Samsung unveils the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra during the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17.
  • As anticipated by various leaks and rumors, these new flagship smartphones are equipped with ‘Galaxy AI,’ featuring a range of built-in smart AI functionalities.
  • Notable features include Live Translate, Note Assist, and Circle to Search. Running on Android 14-based One UI 6.1, the Galaxy S24 series boasts Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with a maximum 120Hz refresh rate.
  • The Galaxy S24 is configured with 8GB of RAM, while the premium Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra offer an enhanced 12GB of RAM.
  • The Galaxy S24 Ultra operates globally on a modified variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC known as “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy” and is distinguished by a Titanium frame. In contrast, the standard Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are equipped with an aluminum armor frame.
  • All three phones maintain an IP68-rated dust- and water-resistant build, consistent with their predecessors.
  • Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra price: The regular Samsung Galaxy S24 is priced starting at $799 (approximately Rs. 65,500) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 8GB + 256GB variant is available for $849 (roughly Rs. 70,600).
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is available at a starting price of $999 (approximately Rs. 81,000) for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 12GB + 512GB variant is priced at $1,119 (roughly Rs. 93,100).
  • Meanwhile, the premium Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $1,299 (approximately Rs. 98,300) for the base variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB options are priced at $1,419 (roughly Rs. 1,18,000) and $1,659 (roughly Rs. 1,38,000), respectively.
  • The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are offered in shades of Amber Yellow, Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Onyx Black. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is available in Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow color options.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is scheduled to go on sale in select markets from January 31. Specific details regarding pricing and availability in individual countries are yet to be disclosed. Currently, the phones are open for pre-reservations.

  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with Android 14 along with One UI 6.1 overlay. It sports a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display, featuring an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz and reaching a peak brightness of 2,600nits.
  • The display incorporates a Vision Booster feature for enhanced visibility outdoors and is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Armor protection. Notably, the device boasts a Titanium chassis, a significant improvement from the aluminum frame found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
  • Powering the phone is a customized version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, specifically designed for the Galaxy series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy is paired with 12GB of RAM as the standard configuration, and users can opt for storage options of up to 1TB onboard.
  • In the imaging department, the Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a quad rear camera setup. Leading the pack is a formidable 200-megapixel wide camera with an f/1.8 lens, an 85-degree field of view, and optical image stabilization (OIS).
  • The camera ensemble includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter with OIS, f/3.4 aperture, and 5x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom, OIS support, and f/2.4 aperture. For capturing selfies and engaging in video chats, the front features a 12-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 lens and an 80-degree field of view.
  • Connectivity options on the Galaxy S24 Ultra encompass 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port.
  • It is equipped with a bundled S Pen stylus. For enhanced privacy and security, the handset incorporates features such as Samsung Knox, Knox Vault, and Passkeys for secure access to registered websites and apps. Additionally, it holds an IP68 rating, ensuring dust and water resistance.
  • The Galaxy S24 Ultra houses a robust 5,000mAh battery, supporting 45W wired charging and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, providing charging speeds of up to 15W.
  • The claimed charging capability can boost the battery to 65 percent in 30 minutes. Moreover, the device supports Wireless PowerShare, enabling the charging of other wireless charging-supported devices. In terms of dimensions, the smartphone measures 79×162.3×8.6mm and has a weight of 232 grams.
  • The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ share the same SIM and software specifications as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display, while the Galaxy S24+ features a slightly larger 6.7-inch display.
  • Both models incorporate Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens with variable refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz and support for Vision Booster.
  • The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy in select regions, whereas the India variants house the Exynos 2400 SoC. The standard Galaxy S24 model has 8GB of RAM as the base configuration, while the Galaxy S24+ offers a 12GB RAM option.
  • For camera capabilities, both the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ share an identical triple rear camera setup. This includes a 50-megapixel wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens, 85-degree field of view, and OIS, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens and a 120-degree field-of-view, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture lens, 3x optical zoom, and OIS. The front-facing camera is a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens and an 80-degree field-of-view.
  • Both models offer up to 512GB of inbuilt storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi Direct, and a USB Type-C port. Noteworthy features encompass IP68-rated dust- and water-resistant build, Samsung Knox security, Passkeys, and support for the company’s Knox Vault.
  • The Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery supporting 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare. In contrast, the Galaxy S24+ features a larger 4,900mAh battery with 45W wired charging support, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 providing 15W charging speeds, and Wireless PowerShare support for reverse wireless charging.
  • The Galaxy S24 measures 70.6x147x7.6mm and weighs 168 grams, while the Galaxy S24+ measures 75.9×158.5×7.7mm and weighs 197 grams.
  • The Galaxy S24 series marks Samsung’s venture into incorporating growing AI techniques into its smartphones. These handsets feature various Galaxy AI capabilities for communication, including Live Translate for real-time voice and text translations in phone calls, Chat Assist as an online chatbot, Android Auto summarizing incoming messages and suggesting relevant replies, and the AI-backed Keyboard translating messages in real-time in 13 languages.
  • Additionally, Note Assist in Samsung Notes offers AI-generated summaries and template creation, Transcript Assist for translating recordings, and the Google-powered Circle to Search feature for improved search results on the Galaxy S24 phones.
