Indian Oil Corp, the country’s top refiner, will open 300 ethanol fuel stations, federal road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday.
India ranked as the world’s third-largest oil importer and consumer, is committed to reducing its carbon footprint as part of its 2070 net-zero carbon objective.
“My demand of opening of ethanol pumps is accepted by the petroleum minister,” Gadkari said on the sidelines of a sugar conference in the western city of Pune.

According to Reuters, India’s trade department has supported the reduction of taxes on hybrid vehicles, responding to requests from Japanese automakers, as part of the effort to transition towards cleaner energy sources.
